General Submission Requirements

Mentor/Supervisor Approval:
You must upload a signed Mentor/Supervisor Approval Form as part of your application at the time of submission. This form confirms your mentor’s approval of your project and their commitment to support your work.

Post-Funding Update (Required for Funded Projects):
If you receive CFI funding, you will be required to submit a brief update in January of your graduating year.

Specific Project Requirements (Conditional Approvals)
If your project falls into any of the following categories, you must secure approval or guidance from the relevant individuals or departments before submitting your application.

Surveys:
Contact Beth Holman for approval and guidance on survey design and execution.

Curriculum Development Projects:
Obtain approval from Stacie Buckler for any projects involving curriculum changes or new educational initiatives.

Global Health Projects (Global REACH):
Email Dr. Shane Quinonez to discuss and receive approval for projects involving global health initiatives.

Mental Health Projects:
Seek guidance and approval from Karri Grob for any projects addressing mental health.

IRB Approval:
Note: IRB approval is not required at the time of applying for the CFI grant, but you must plan accordingly to secure approval before initiating the project. If your project involves human subjects or data collection requiring Institutional Review Board (IRB) oversight, you must have IRB approval before starting the actual CFI project.

Important Note:
Please anticipate a processing time of up to 8 weeks before receiving your funds. Ensure that your project timeline accounts for this delay to avoid any disruptions.

If you have any questions, email the Capstone for Impact Director, Dr. Andrew Hashikawa (drewhash@med.umich.edu) or the Capstone for Impact Program Manager,  Samiah Haque (samhaque@med.umich.edu).
